Martina Gotz

Martina Götz has practised yoga for over 20 years and has been teaching for more than 15 years, predominantly in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India.

Martina GotzFor 10 years she has been travelling regularly to India to study with the Jois family in Mysore. Before Pattabhi Jois’s passing in 2009 she received authorisation and blessing to teach through his institute (KPJAYI) and attended a teaching training with Sharath in 2010. For more info see: www.kpjayi.org. While Sharath Jois remains her primary teacher, she also practises regularly with Peter Sanson, Dena Kingsberg, and Matthew Sweeney.

Martina has been an E-RYT 500 (Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher 500 hours) through Yoga Alliance for over 7 years. For more info see: www.yogaalliance.org.

Her teaching is steeped in tradition yet accommodating to each individual students needs. She teaches regular weekly classes in Auckland and workshops throughout New Zealand.

Martina teaches primarily in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Tradition.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a set series of asana (physical poses) linked together dynamically with the breath (vinyasa) as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. This incredible method of yoga is detoxing, helps realign the body, build strength, improve flexibility and bring peace of mind.

She also teaches a Chandra Vinyasa Sequence, as taught by Matthew Sweeney. This is a slow flowing yoga sequence, which in particular focuses on opening up and releasing tension in the hips and lower back. Meditative, restorative, balancing for regular Ashtanga Vinyasa practitioners, it is also ideal just prior to or during Menstruation & Ovulation, new or full moon days, or any time energy is low.

Classes are either Led as a group with everyone practicing in unison or in the traditional self practice style called Mysore where students can work at their own pace and rhythm receiving personalised assistance. Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa or Chandra Vinyasa supported in her Mysore classes on Waiheke Island.
