Ziggy Schmidt

Ziggy SchmidtIn the late 80’s Ziggy ventured on a yoga teacher training with Dr.Roque Lobo, head of the institute for Yoga and Ayurveda at the University of Munich, Germany, after having been on the yogic path for about 10 years and started teaching within the second year of her three year training. Over the years she has trained with teachers like Donna Farhi, Judith Lasater, Shandor Remete, Mark Whitwell and many others.

Her style of teaching was based on Iyengar yoga and developed into her own, which incorporates flowing sequences, pranayama, mantra, and meditation.

For Ziggy yoga is a life style, which cannot be separated from every day activities. It’s about how one relates to others, to nature, to animals; it’s about how one works, sleeps, eats, plays, consumes and recycles … so generally how one spends one’s time in harmony with the world. Ahimsa – non-harming – is one of the most important yogic principles, in her life and in her teaching.

Ziggy wants to make her students aware of their power to heal themselves, to become responsible for their own lives and thus responsible for all our lives, for our world and its future.

Yoga can lead the way. It takes time. It’s not a motorway, but a scenic route – slower, but much more enjoyable !

Ziggy teaches Hatha Yoga – relatively strong classes with Pranayama, flowing sequences, lots of core work, long guided meditations.

Please note: these classes are small – Ziggy  can only accommodate 9 students – and that they have to book in, because most classes are full and there is a waiting list. Please do contact Ziggy first if you wish to attend:
